We Are Marmalade House Vintage Tea Rooms

I don't remember exactly how the name Marmalade House came to me, but I knew that if I ever achieved my dream of owning a Tea Room that this would be the name. I imagined pristine white table cloths, purposefully mismatched bone china teacups, vintage music, elegant tiered cake stands displaying the most delicious cakes, the popping of champagne corks and the warmest welcome awaiting our guests, which is what we've tried very hard to replicate in our Tea Rooms today.

Despite our wide-spanning geographic locations, our wonderful family have joined us on every step of making this dream a reality; we've held painting parties which our children have enthusiastically participated in (albeit with a few glasses of wine available to help seal the deal), we've scoured social media for tea cups, tea pots and other such items and then dispersed across our various counties to collect store. The girls took great pleasure in 'dressing' the shop and perfecting the flower wall and with just an hour to go before our Grand Opening back on 17th May 2021, the boys were still sweeping, scraping and painting to complete the last few outstanding tasks!

You will see that all our tables have girls names rather than table numbers. Each table has been named after some of the amazing ladies in our family from grandmother, stepmother, daughter, future daughter in-laws, god daughter, cousin, to our adorable little dog, Lottie!

However, one lady who started this journey with us but due to her sudden passing last October, was sadly unable to complete this adventure, is my incredible mother-in-law, Pam. To Pam we have dedicated a whole room - Pam's Room (the entrance to the shop).

Pam was such a remarkable lady and is missed so much by us all every day but we are sure she's looking over the shop and approving of the cake selection, and in particular our Lemon Meringue Pie, her favourite! You'll see her photograph on the wall as you enter the shop on the left, give her a smile or a nod as you pass.
